Sometimes when you ask for kittens, life drops you kittens

We wanted two kittens. We wanted them in a month or two. Like, perhaps after we move. We hoped for young ones. Today my friend Lisa E. told me about a friend of hers who was fostering two kittens she picked up from the pound who were too sick to be at the pound. Did we want to check them out?

You don't meet a desperately sick four week old and five week old pair of kittens and not take them to get care. You don't spit on a chance to nurse infants to health. Not if you're me you don't.

They are tiny. The smallest one weighs only 10 ounces. They are covered in ringworm. They have parasites in their stomach. But they don't have leukemia or FIV. The Vet says there's no reason why they can't make it with some good care and a hell of a lot of medication.

The hardest part will be not being able to touch them without gloves for two weeks. Which is at least how long the ring worm will take to go away. Ring worm is very infectious to people. So we're off to get a huge box of gloves and kitty supplies.

They're both girls. Thank you, life, for giving us a pair of babies in need of our care! We've been missing Ozark.
