Help Kiana Win A Mac!
My very oldest friend, Carrie Souza, is trying to win a new computer for her daughter Kiana. I have just voted for her to win and now I would like to ask, as a favor to me, that you go to the link and cast your vote for Carrie too. Why on earth should you take a minute to do something like that for someone you most likely have never met? Because Kiana is one of the coolest, most creative, smart, pretty, sweet, and deserving kids I have ever met. Her computer is about to die and she needs a new one so she can work on her dream of going to art school.
Look for the entry for Carrie Souza and cast your vote.
Carrie says they're really close to winning so every vote counts for a lot at this point!
When Kiana is a name in the film making world you will be able to say that you helped her get there. And believe me, I knew when Kiana was only 7 years old that she is someone who's going to do amazing things with her life. Carrie has done an amazing job raising Kiana on her own for much of Kiana's life and they have come through some pretty tough times and through all of that Carrie has always been the kind of parent I want to be.
So if you can spare a moment, (the voting will last through November 29), I would be so appreciative! If you do cast your vote, please let me know in the comments so that whether or not they win they can see who was kind enough to help!
Note: if you have any problem with the link, please let me know ASAP! Thanks. And remember that you're scrolling down the list of participants and looking for the name "Carrie Souza".
Full disclosure: this is not a contest sponsored by me. At the moment I desperately need a new computer myself and can't begin to afford one. This is also not a contest on my blog and I have nothing to do with the sponsors. I am simply providing a link to the contest to help my friend win. So I'm not promoting the people who are hosting it. I'm disclosing this so that my colleagues at Blogher (Ashley!!) don't have to e-mail me to find out what crap I'm up to.

Thank you for your votes you guys! I really appreciate you doing this for someone you don't know. Kiana is one of those people who has a bright light inside her and when she was seven she came to Max's second birthday party (or third?) and I was blown away by her intelligence and she drew some pictures while she was there that were amazing as hell. I don't get to see her very often but when I saw her at Carrie's wedding this summer I was struck all over again by her incandescence.
Anyway- thank you! If she wins I'll tell you and whether or not she wins I'll make sure that Carrie knows that her girl got all of your votes!
